Galesburg…The Land of the Silver Streaks

So…we’re in Galesburg, IL, and we just spent some time with our friends the Lundeens on Lake Bracken. It’s a little lake where they used to get water for the train steam engines…AKA Silver Streaks. Good times…if you know what I mean.

Also, there was some quality bonding with Ms. Maggie Green…she’s a personal banker (and friend, of course). Just let her know if you’d like her to sign you up for Wells Fargo Online Bill Pay.

And…BIG TIM (Sadee’s dad). We talked baseball (he’s a White Sox fan and I’m rooting for the Twins). Can you say “wildcard race?”

Finally, shout outs to the Baxters, Kimbells, Nora (and Peaches), and Aunt Harriet.

The Countdown…

We’re back in Bloomington. We got home Sunday night and have spent the last few days packing and cleaning our little condo. Our time in Colorado was good and it was fun to meet the team that we’ll be ministering with in Germany. It’s crazy to think that we’ll be in Bloomington for less than a week before we begin the journey to Germany. Our official departure is September 4th from Sioux Falls, SD. If you think about it, throw up some prayers as the next few days will be filled with good-byes.

Team Briefing

The road to Germany has been a long one. We’ve been thinking and praying about going to Freiburg, Germany, for almost 2 years. Well, we’re finally in “countdown” mode…we leave for Germany in just a few weeks!! This week, we’re in Colorado at Team Briefing. We’ve gotten to spend some time with family in Denver and will start briefing Monday. If you think about it, pray for our time. We’ll be with our team planning and preparing for the upcoming year. This week will also be a week of refreshment and encouragement before we dive into cross-cultural ministry. Also, pray for our team who will be with us: Colin, Courtney, Kirstin, and Christina AND pray for Sarah and Anselm (who are already in Germany)…who aren’t with us this week. We’ll let you know how things are going throughout the week!!

The Good-Byes Begin

Last night was our first “going away party.” We were at our friends Trevor and Karen Elliott’s house in Indianapolis and got to see a number of friends who graduated from Indiana State University. One of the biggest hightlights was a time of prayer, encouragement, and words of wisdom.
