Into the Swing of Things

It’s been a while since we’ve updated you on our little world here in Freiburg. We’re starting to get into some routines, but getting some time online is not one of them. We’re still waiting for our phone and internet to be activated for our house. Waiting seems to be a typical theme for us here in Deutschland.

For instance, this week I attempted to buy cell phones for Sadee and I. Ordinarily, the members of the STINT team use pre-paid phones that you load minutes onto each month. This works fine…if you don’t use all of your minutes. In Germany, the culture is one in which many people don’t use their cell phones to talk much, but instead send text messages back and forth. For Sadee and I, however, we spent almost 60 Euro (take 60 times 1.26 to get the American amount) during the first 2 weeks here. So, in the interest in eating and paying rent, we decided to get a cell phone (or handy) contract. THE POINT IS…it took me more paper work and time to get my cell phone than to get our Visas which give us the “privelege/right” to be here in Germany for more than a few weeks at a time. It’s crazy how some systems work, huh?

Pictures Soon!!!

Soon, we’ll update the pictures section with picture of our team and of Germany. Keep checking back!!!
